Michael-Ander Schok

August 7, 2023

It is with broken hearts to announce the passing of Michael Ander Schok on Aug.7, 2023.

Born Michael Andrew Steven Schuck on March 7, 1988 in Calgary, AB to Deborah Schuck and Hector Robinson.

Michael was absolutely adored by his Mom as well as Grandma, aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. Michael's sense of humor and incredible intelligence were just a few of the attributes his family and friends loved about him.  Michael was a free spirit, never fearing moving to a new country and finding adventures.

He started his academic career in Honolulu, HI in grade 1.  He would grow to become a very talented artist, winning accolades for his flute performances and a master at learning other languages.

His travels took him to study at UBC and eventually getting his BA at McGill University. His wandering spirit took him to such places as UAE, Maldives and Germany, where he taught ESL.

Michael and his mother were always close and especially at the end of his mother's life he amazed us with his compassion and caring for her in the hospital.

Michael will be missed by his siblings, aunts, uncles, cousins and every person that had the pleasure of knowing him.

A celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, Sept. 23 at 2:00pm at the First Church of the Nazarene, 65 Richard Way SW, Calgary AB. This service will also be live streamed; please see https://www.firstnaz.ca.

In lieu of flowers please direct donations to the Alberta Childrens Hospital Mental Health Foundation.

Michael this is not the message I thought I would have heard after speaking with you hours earlier sleep on my beloved nephew may your soul find eternal rest.

I had the opportunity to get to know you during your short time on the island.

You had the softest spirit and a beautiful, bright mind.

I will fondly remember our weekend brunches and our wine and appetizer nights. Sipping wine, sharing stories and life advice! You touch both me and my sister deeply and we are lucky to have crossed paths with you. Miss you Michael.

So heartbroken to hear of Debbie's and Michael' passing. We were good friends with Debbie and have met Michael there during his stay with his mom in UAE.

You were so gifted like your mom. We will miss you both.

Rest in peace dear friends
