Wilfred Ebbutt

February 20, 2024

Wilfred Jack Ebbutt, born in Vancouver on June 14, 1924, son of Horace and Emma Constance Ebbutt.

Sadly, on February 20, 2024 in his hundredth year, Wilf passed away at Suncrest Retirement Community surrounded in love, with his proud children and their partners at his side.  He is survived by his two daughters, Cathy Elaine Ebbutt (Albert Carrier), Carol Tracy Briggs (Dan), and two sons, James Allen Ebbutt (Ultin), grandson Trevor James Ebbutt, and David Jack Ebbutt (Luisa Parente).  Wilf’s daughters and sons were always his highest priority throughout his long and happy life.  Wilf was predeceased by his loving wife of 35 years, Irene Viola Ebbutt in 1989.  Together they built a loving life and home that is reflected today in the adoration his daughters and sons hold for him.

Wilf served in the Canadian Air Force from age 21-23 in England as an Air Force Mechanic.  After returning to Canada he joined his brother Alvin Ebbutt (Donna) (predeceased by both), in commercial fishing for over 50 years.  This was a very successful career choice that culminated in venturing into real estate ownership and financial investing which he thoroughly enjoyed and kept him busy.

He retired at age 72, a strong, positive man with endless warmth for helping others.  The key to living to his age would be summarized as always positive, work hard, never put off what you can do today as he would say.

Wilf will be cherished and remembered forever in our hearts.  He was always happy.

We love you Dad.
