Stefan Bohn

October 6, 2024

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Stefan Gerhard Bohn (July 19, 1969 to October 06, 2024) at the young age of 55.

Born in St. Michael's Hospital in Toronto Ontario. Stefan was a bright, inquisitive, playful child who enjoyed sports and was mature beyond his years. After his family moved to BC in 1975, Stefan got very involved in lacrosse. As an adult, he continued with softball and soccer eventually gaining a love of golf and fitness in general. He lived the bulk of his life in the lower mainland, graduating from Seaquam Secondary School and settling in Burnaby BC.

He started working with the Vancouver School Board when he was 19 and was working towards retirement when he was diagnosed with stage 4 esophageal stomach cancer. He was fighting a hard battle and, in the hospital, recovering from a treatment that was helping him eat again when he succumb to a catastrophic bleed that took him from us unexpectedly within a few hours.

He is survived by his wife Deborah Bolingbroke-Price and his two remaining cats, Nunu and Daphne Doodle Bug, his Auntie Claire Heffernan (& Dan Mooney) on Quadra Island and his cousin Michael Anderson in Edmonton. Grasshopper is very missed by his father-in-law Markie Heartwell (& MIL Rory Bolingbroke-Price RIP Mar 25, 2019), his brother-in-law Sean Bolingbroke-Price, his Aunt-in-law Beatrice Reid in Richmond and Uncle Lexie McCormick & Aunt Winnie Patton in Bangor, N. Ireland, his cousin-in-laws in Richmond and Ireland, his Aunts Ursula Bohn (& Dan Sharples) in Calgary and Gabriel Taylor (& John Taylor) in Flin Flon plus the beloved Donald/Charlton step-family - Auntie Deanna, Lisa (& Craig), Laura, Catherine (& Dwayne), his Aunties Soosi Monahan and Gloria Meek on the island and his dads partner Flora Carillo.

Stefan's mum Ann Donald (nee Heffernan) was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer two weeks after he received his diagnosis and sadly lost her battle on August 17, 2023. His beloved cat Ruby lost her battle with cancer on November 01, 2024, and his dad Gerry Bohn passed away after a brief illness on November 09, 2024.

Stefan is fondly remembered by all the friendships he made through his life - in the 30+ years at the VSB Workshop and all the sports teams he participated throughout the years. His adventures with all his friends including Andre, Vic, Maurice and his relationship with Marion were very important to him and gave him great joy through his life.

Thank you to friends and family that have supported Stefan through his illness and his family through this devastating time. The tiny husby will never be forgotten, he will be remembered for his humour & his devotion to his wife and his cats.

Thank you to the staff and doctors at Burnaby General Hospital and the BC Cancer Centre.

The family are planning a celebration of life for Stefan in the summer of 2025 and hope to find the perfect spot to dedicate a bench to him.

We hope he is having a wonderful adventure with all that have passed - and he knows how much he was loved and how much he is missed.

Cancer sucks

Dont it always seem to go,

u dont know what u got till its gone..            "big yellow taxi"...Joni Mitchell

Yes it hits hard when we get into such kinds of loss and we do get with lots to contemplate in so many different ways .".lessons to learn every day"...thus we try to be ever present with the times and Such is Life as we trip through it ever in the mix of  wonders with the comings and goings of what ever that we encounter along the way... to ... heaven only knows where?...LOL.

Never the less ..we are of eternity.  *"WE are star dust"*  ..theres another song ....so we are all brsis any way we look at it ..just shape shifting around with the energies that be ...

...In reality  ?... nice to have memories... and I am very happy to have shared some times with Steph...and the whole family dynamics  ...how nice to have so many memorable experiences.

It would have been nice to spend more time in the togetherness..

isn't it very sad what some actually have to go through , with no real choices but to endure ....by so many ...

Certainly there where many who shared in their own kinds of ways the pains of what he was going through ...intense.. it boggles the mind and one needs to hold on to the niceness of a great character as he had his way with a rather  graceful demeanor that was extraordinary ...good listening qualities I found with a nice kind of polite presence with his own way of finding his joys sharing time .

As we all ..who will  get closer to their shelf life ..it gets abundantly clear the bottom line...we all have to go through the common ground reality that this is really a short trip in these rather weird circumstances of spin living out life that takes us for a ride ... that goes round and round till it doesn't.

Hope he knew how much he was actually loved by those who loved  him and I have my thanks ...RIP ...knowing u did have good cause and effects on others .

Stefan Bohn was one in a million. Stefan never changed. From his first day on the job at the VSB, when he was taken around the workshop to meet us all, his personality was always the same.Through the decades he was never known to be out of sorts, and was always the perfect gentleman. For those of us, whom he shared his friendship and genuine kindness, he has passed on, but he will never be forgotten.
