It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Sharon Ann Hurney, age 76, on Sunday, January 29, 2023 after a battle with cancer. Sharon was predeceased by her parents, Harry and Mary Person. She is survived by her loving husband of 58 years, Bill Hurney, her sister Connie Munro, her three children, Wendy Reid (Allan), Sonya Fuller (Les) and Blake Hurney (Claire), 6 grandchildren, and 4 great grandchildren. Sharon was a long-time resident of Queensborough, where she grew up, met and married her childhood sweetheart, raised her 3 children, and taught preschool. After retirement, Sharon and Bill downsized and moved into Aldergrove. Sharon had a love of travelling, and along with Bill, took many camping trips and cruises over the years. She will always be remembered for her cooking, baking, crafts and ability to make friends wherever she went. The family would like to thank Dr. Cass and all the staff at the Langley Hospice Residence where they were so kind to the family and made Sharon’s last days comfortable. The family would also like to acknowledge the many friends and neighbours who helped out during Sharon’s illness. A celebration of life will be held at Aldergrove Alliance Church, 26291 28th Avenue, Aldergrove, B.C. at 1:00pm on Saturday, February 25, 2023. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations to be made to the Langley Hospice Society.
