Paul Grauer

October 16, 2023

With great sadness, we announce the death of our beloved father, Paul Stephen Grauer, who passed away Monday, October 16, 2023, at Burnaby General Hospital. We said goodbye after a two-and-a-half-month battle with lung cancer. He was the most kind, caring and generous husband, father and grandfather. He is survived by his loving wife Lynne of 45 years, three daughters, Julie (Octavio), Emily (Carlos) and Sarah and six grandchildren, Isabel, Julianna, William, Ava, Carl and Chris.

Paul was born at Vancouver General Hospital on June 7, 1950, to his mother, Sarah Louise and father, Carl Grauer. He lived with his parents and surviving brother Chris at Oak and 33rd, where he attended Emily Carr Elementary School, graduated from Eric Hamber High School, and graduated from the University of British Columbia. Paul made lifelong friends through his studies who know even at the end, he never lost his sense of humour.

Dad golfed regularly, rain or shine, at Point Grey Golf Club. He shared stories of when his father would take him to practice with cut-off clubs, and he did the same with his children and grandchildren. Everyone’s favourite part was lunch at the clubhouse.

His favourite role was being a father. He loved nothing more than spending time with his family. He was always there for us, offering unconditional love and unwavering support. He encouraged our independence and finding joy in the simple things. He shaped us through the way he lived his life.

He will be greatly missed and forever remembered for his dedication to his family and kindness to friends and strangers.

In lieu of flowers, please send Dad a kind word.
