Michael Henry Retel of White Rock, BC passed away on May 24, 2026 at the age of 56. Born in Vancouver, BC, Michael was a beloved husband, father, son, brother and friend. He touched the lives of many with his charisma, humor, easygoing nature, and his loving spirit. He was generous with his time, loyal to those he cared about, and always willing to lend a helping hand to family and friends.

Michael is survived by his loving wife, Torri; his daughter, Julia; his son, Nicholas; his parents, Henry and Rika; his sister, Trish (Keith); his brother, Randal (Kathy), as well as many extended family members.

After high school, Michael pursued post-secondary education and went on to enjoy a long career in transportation logistics. He spent many years with Purolator, including serving as District Manager of Atlantic Air Operations in New Brunswick, an experience he spoke of with pride. Upon returning to BC, he continued in transportation management before finding his “home” at Coast Mountain Bus Company, where he was genuinely happy and fulfilled.

Outside of work, Michael was known for his passion for high-fidelity audio. A true “audiophile”, he loved the pursuit of exceptional sound and spent countless hours buying, selling, restoring and enjoying high-end audio equipment.

Michael had an extraordinary ability to connect with people. Charismatic and engaging, he was a natural salesman with undeniable charm. It was often joked that he could sell water to the sea.

Above all, Michael will be remembered for his kindness, his sense of humor, his fearlessness and strength, and the love he shared with his family and friends. One of the greatest comforts to his family is that, before his passing, he found faith in Jesus and the peace that came with it.

He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.

A gathering to celebrate Michael’s life will be held on Thursday, July 9, 2026 at 1 pm at Peace Portal Alliance Church in White Rock, BC. Family and friends are warmly invited to attend. Those wishing to contribute flowers in memory of Michael may arrange for delivery to Peace Portal Church, 15128 27B Ave, Surrey, BC on July 9, 2026 by 11:00 am.
