Margaretha Floor (nee Kelder)

June 2, 1930 - March 27, 2025

Margaretha, age 94, was promoted to glory on March 27th with her daughter Rita by her side. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend.

Also known as Gre or Margaret, she was born in Zandaam, Holland, the 6th of 12 children born to Marie and Jan Kelder. Margaret was very close to her siblings and together they sang, played harmonicas and loved to swim and skate in the canals as youngsters. She received top marks for her seamstress abilities at school and was a talented knitter and seamstress for her entire life. She frequently gifted her items to family and friends.

In 1951, most of the Kelder family emigrated to Canada to start a new life. Margaret was soon followed to Canada by the love of her life, Arnold Floor, and they married in 1952.

Her strong, unwavering Christian faith was everything to her and she was known as a peacemaker. Family also meant the world to Margaret, and she was a loving, devoted, and supportive Mother and Oma to her four children, nine grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren. She also worked hard outside the home as a kitchen server in Namu, as a care-aide in Richmond, and as an assistant with Arnold throughout her life at several bakeries in Aldergrove, Lynn Valley, Kelowna, and Fort Langley. She retired in 1998 and continued to be active with Curves, cleaning houses, fishing, and helping neighbours. She enjoyed her trips to Hawaii, Holland, and Alaska and being part of the Forest Greens community where she lived for over 25 years.

Margaret was predeceased by Arnold in 2017. She is survived and lovingly remembered by her children John (Karen), Bryon (Patty), Tim (Karen), Rita (Beren). Her grandchildren Jan, Lee, Ben, Sadge, Jeida, Adam, Taylor, Lorenn, and Kiera. Her great-grandchildren Micah, Koen, Freya, Ander, Morgen, Victor, Jae, James, and Marcus.

The family expresses their deepest gratitude to the staff at Jackman Manor and Elim Village for their care and consideration to Margaret during this past year.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Elim Village Oasis, 9025 160th Street, Surrey, BC

on Wednesday, April 23rd, at 1 pm.

Rita & family

Hugs to Rita & Kiera!

As a daughter, It’s never easy losing our “mom” regardless of their age, when we’ve had a great relationship with them.

She sounds remarkable.     🤗❤️
