Kumar Sagi

March 19, 2020

Kumar Sagi passed away peacefully at Surrey Memorial Hospital on Wednesday, March 18. He fought bravely to regain his health, but despite the care provided by staff on nursing unit five east, his condition gradually deteriorated over the last year.

Kumar was born in Podur, West Godavri district in the state of Andhra Pradesh, India. He was raised in a large and loving family by his late father Sivarama Krishna Raju Sagi, and his mother Sundharamma Sagi. He had a very happy childhood filled with memories of growing up with his older brother, and five sisters.

To further his education, he chose to come to Canada in 1984 and was cared for by the loving and supportive family of Subba Raju Sagi and the late Sujatha Sagi in Vancouver, British Colombia.  After completing his education, he settled in Surrey, working for many years with SGS Coal.

Kumar was married to Amrutha Valli Mudunuri in 1994, and was the proud father of Sarvagnya Sagi.

Kumar had a very kind and generous spirit and will be missed by all of his friends in Surrey and his large and caring extended family

Truly sorry to learn of his very sad untimely passing. I've known Kumar as a former colleague and good friend, and had visited him a few times in the hospital, meeting his aunt and sister who had come to care for him and encourage him... But  wasn't able to visit him for over a month because of the quarantine, and even answering the phone was a difficult task for him... I'll never understand why medical science couldn't cure him despite being in the hospital for about 12-16 months, starting with an apparent case of pneumonia... He was a gentle soul and a good friend and will be deeply missed. Good bye my friend. Deeply deeply saddened.

We were in Vancouver in 1999-2000 time. We met Sagi family and had a great time with them, along with prasad, srinivas, chiwdart and others. A smiling pleasing personality and hope he is taking care of his family from wherever he is.  Came to know about this today.
