Kjetil Rui

February 23, 2024

Kjetil Rui was born in Kristiansand Norway to Sylvia and Morten Rui on May 25, 1978. He is predeceased by his father Morten Rui, and survived by his daughter Matilda Ama-Grace Rui, spouse Amber Grace Rui, Mother Sylvia Rui, and sister Silje (Rui) Moonie. Kjetil was the first grandchild of the family to Viggo and Ingebjorg Rui and Roald and Rangchild Lomeland.

Kjetil was also survived by his uncle Inge Rui, Marlene and Frank Marasco; cousins Camilla Therese Lagnes, Haaken Rui, Susanne Bruskeland, Shayne Marasco, Sven Lomeland, Jason and Chad Chahley, as well as many second cousins.

Kjetil was a hard worker and an exceptional sales person with the gift of the gab, who dedicated his life to be an invaluable employee for EMCO as well as a loving and dedicated father, husband, brother and son. He had an amazing zest for life and lived in the moment, focused on family values throughout his life, thus creating memories that will be cherished forever.

Kjetil brought an astonishing light to the lives of everyone he met and he has left a profound void in the hearts of his family and friends, and a grievous silence in the world. Kjetil loved to travel and his passions were cooking, sports, and spending time with his family and friends to share in the joy and talent of his culinary efforts, infectious personality, and transcendent spirit.

Kjetil fought a long brave battle with cancer for 5 years which sadly ended February 23, 2024 with his family at bedside. He was a brave stoic warrior during his fight, now rest in peace in Valhalla with the rest of the fallen Viking soldiers.

Friends and relatives will be received by Kjetil's family at Parkside Church on May 24, 2024 at 2pm, 33837 Prentis Ave, Mission, reception to follow.

Lovely man and will be missed by many. Admired his zest for life and his courageous battle with cancer. My heartfelt condolences to all of his family and friends. Rest in power Viking. XX

Having known KJ for most of my life- having grown up in the 176th/24th avenue south Surrey area through my older brother and other boys around our neighbourhood, and then alter in life, sharing his life with Amber, a close and dear friend of mine, I have never known a man so generous and thoughtful of others.  KJ and I always enjoyed talking about music.  Him and I shared a common desire of being the "DJ" in a social setting and talking about the band that was being played. I will always remember his positive and upbeat nature and his desire to make others happy when he was in a room with them.

RIP KJ.

Was busy and didn't check my linkedin for a few weeks and just missed KJ's celebration of life.

RIP my Norweigian lad.  My only regret is that whilist he played ice hockey in his younger days he didn't continue this pursuit later in life.

RIP from the Rutherford family !

RIP my Norwegian lad.  My only regret is while ice hockey was part of his early life at 17, it wasn’t prevalent into his adult life and dunno if it would have made a difference.
