Keith Sabourin Obituary

It is with great sadness that we say goodbye to a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend, Keith Norman Sabourin, who passed away surrounded by family in his home early Friday evening October 13th 2023 at the age of 82. The beloved son of Rhea Hollingshead, Keith drew upon his extended family Agnes and Connie and later Art and Jean to help mold and shape him into a young man.

Keith met his true soul mate Ethel early in life and as young teenagers they began dating, with the not too subtle encouragement from Ethel’s brothers Frank and Jim. Keith and Ethel began their lives together on October 19th, 1963. Keith worshipped the ground Ethel his wife and friend walked on, more than words can describe. That love soon brought their son Scott (“The Boy”) into the world and a few short years later, a daughter Lyanne (“Girlsie”). Keith loved and was so proud of his children and grandchildren (Kelsey, Shamus, Riley and Spencer).

Keith affected so many people with his warmth and generosity. A true “people person” working in the newspaper industry for over 50 years Keith made countless lifelong friends which he touched in so many ways.

Keith leaves behind brother Herb Hollingshead (Bernie), sister Linda Riggi (Tony), brother Wayne Hollingshead (Kim), childhood sweetheart Ethel, loving son Scott (Cassandra) and daughter Lyanne (Derek Charbonneau), beloved grandchildren Kelsey, Shamus, Riley and Spencer.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Alzheimer’s Society of Canada would be greatly appreciated. A private celebration of life will be held at a later date.

So very sorry to hear of Keith's passing. Keith's name has always come up when reflecting on our days at the Sudbury Star. He was a good friend, a co-worker in arms, and an all around wonderful person. He will be missed by all that knew him.
