Obituary for Keith Orminston Bynoe

August 24, 1943 – May 19, 2025

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Keith Orminston Bynoe, who died peacefully in Vancouver General Hospital,Vancouver, British Columbia on May 19, 2025, at the age of 82.

Born in 1943 in Christ Church, Barbados,Keith was educated at Combermere Secondary School where he excelled in English language studies, and after graduation, he began his career as a school teacher at St. Christopher Primary School. After teaching, Keith's technical aptitude led him to join the Barbados Telephone Company, where he worked as an engineer before deciding to immigrate to Canada for new opportunities.

In 1967, Keith immigrated to Canada, settling in Montreal, where he pursued studies at McGill University. After gaining experience in various roles, he later completed legal training and built a fulfilling career as a paralegal.

In retirement, Keith relocated to Vancouver, where he embraced a quiet but intellectually rich life. A voracious reader and lifelong lover of the English language, he could always be counted on for his clever turn of phrase and quick-witted banter. He spent many hours in the library, tuned in daily to his favourite radio programs, and followed the politics of the day with great interest—always ready for a spirited and respectful debate. His curiosity and openness to differing perspectives made him a welcome conversationalist. He was deeply independent and frequently took day trips across the border to Washington to visit friends. In his later years, he moved to Central City Lodge, where he received excellent care and continued to enjoy the simple pleasures of books, radio, and thoughtful conversation.

Keith is predeceased by mother Pauline, father George Benjamin, sister Deborah, and brother Orwin He is survived by his sisters Maureen and Wendy, and brother Hollis, and many nieces and nephews across Barbados, the United Kingdom, Canada, and the United States. He is fondly remembered and sorely missed by all who knew him.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Paul’s Hospital, Vancouver, BC, in Keith’s memory.

At Keith's wishes, no funeral services will be held. A private memorial will be held by the family at a later time. Messages of condolence may be sent to Just Cremation.
