It is with great sadness we share the sudden passing of our daughter, sister and aunt at her home in Burnaby.
Karen will be remembered most for her amazing laugh, gentle soul and passionate love of Jesus.
Karen was born in Calgary. She graduated from Sir Winston Churchill High School before attending CBI in BC. after which she returned to pursue studies in social work at Mount Royal College. Karen later moved to Vancouver where she worked for many years in Home Care. She loved the interactions and close connections she had with her clients.
Through her friend Elsie, she met Rick who was the drummer in her church’s band. He became the love of her life. Together they travelled for 6 months, through YWAM, to the Philippines, Korea, China and Hawaii. Later they journeyed to Israel and to Thailand to work at an orphanage.
Karen is predeceased by her husband, Rick and her sister, Ingrid. She is survived by her parents, Gert and Dora Janssen, siblings, Vera Funk (Jack), Conrad Janssen (Kelly), Jeff Schellenberg, Moni Janssen (Bartek) as well as her adoring nieces and nephews and friends.
