In loving Memory
June Lillian Nielsen
June 25, 1936- March
7, 2022
June Lillian Nielsen passed away peacefully on March 7,
2022, at the age of 85 in Richmond, BC.
She was born on June 25, 1936, in Vancouver to Niels Nielsen and Lilian
Clarke, and is survived by sons Robert (Kari) and Alan; grandchildren Sarah
(Josu), Tyler, and Michael; and great-grandson Lincoln. She is also survived by
her brother Ken and his family and predeceased by her sister Ollie (Doug).
June attended Richmond High School. In 1956 she married
Edward Hungerschafer and lived in Chicago before moving to Santa Ana,
California in 1964. They had two sons, Robert and Alan. June and Ed divorced in
1971 and she returned to Vancouver with the boys.
As a single mother, it was challenging raising two sons and she
did an admirable job. She soon began
working for the Hudson’s Bay Company where she established a successful 30-year
career in furniture sales. After retirement, June enjoyed travelling with her
son Alan, gardening, and spending time with her loved ones.
The family would like to express their gratitude for the
excellent care given by Dr. Nanda and Dr. Orenstein as well as the many healthcare
professionals who looked after her at Richmond Hospital.
Family and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of
Life on Saturday, June 18, 2022, from 2 to 4 pm, at the South Arm United Church
at 11051 No. 3 Road, Richmond, BC.
You are invited to leave a personal message for the family.
My deepest condolences to all who loved June. She will be missed dearly. . I knew her most of my life, she was a funny lady. She loved her family fiercely. Her grandchildren were adored. The apple in her eye! And Al you were so good to her, you had such a close relationship. You shared many lovely adventures together.
We had a family barbecue when I was a child, June was there in a long flowing floral skirt, out in the yard with all of us kids(Debbie, Jackie, Ryan, Tony, and Jasmin) sitting there (far before Tyler n Michael were around), there June was bending over, and all of sudden she was screaming, she had been stung right in the flower 🌸 on her bum! Oh it was so funny, for the rest of us. Poor June had to have the stinger removed by an unnamed family member! She’d probably be so mad that this is still in my memory and that I’m writing it here, but after 40 years it’s still a funny family memory I’ll always remember fondly! You’ll always be in my memories and my heart June ❤️ May you Rest In Peace. It’s nice to know you’re up there with the rest of those we love and miss, and we will all meet again one day for another fabulous family gathering.
XOXOXOXO
With love, Jasmin Bujak
