It is with heavy hearts and countless fond memories that we announce the sudden passing of Jeffrey Edward Murray on Monday, July 20, 2026.
Born in Montreal on October 13, 1962, to Vi and Harold Murray, Jeff spent his early years in Montreal before moving with his family to Winnipeg. He attended St. Paul’s Jesuit High School, where he earned a reputation for his quick mind, sharper wit, and ability to keep everyone laughing. Those high school years sparked deep, lifelong friendships that Jeff nurtured and kept close for the rest of his life.
After graduating from St. Paul's, Jeff earned his Bachelor of Arts from the University of Manitoba. During his university years, he spent summers working at Jasper Park Lodge. Jeff always spoke fondly of his time in Jasper, the adventures he shared there, and the beauty of the mountains. The friendships he formed there remained an important part of his life for many years.
Jeff built a long and respected career with Benjamin Moore Paints, dedicating 30 years to the company in Toronto and Moncton before relocating to Vancouver in 2005. There, he made his home for more than two decades and met his beloved wife, Alainna.
Whether he was with colleagues, clients, or friends, Jeff had a rare gift for lighting up any room he walked into. He had a way of making people feel seen, welcomed, and instantly at ease.
Above all, Jeff loved his family. He is survived and deeply missed by Alainna, his wife of 19 years; his stepsons, Christopher Walker (Breanna) and Kevin Walker (Ariel); and his grandchildren, Olivia and Grayson, who will forever cherish their hilarious, fun-loving “Grand Pappy Jeff Jeff.”
He was predeceased by his parents, Vi and Harold Murray. He will be greatly missed by his siblings, Jane (Ron), Cathy, Jim (Doreen), and Marilyn (John) and his beloved nieces, nephews, and their partners. He leaves behind a wide circle of lifelong friends and extended family who will miss his warmth, his banter, and his unforgettable presence.
We know wherever he is, he is “shaking the tree.”
A celebration of Jeff’s life, with plenty of good stories, laughter, and shared memories, will be held at Grouse Mountain on Thursday, September 3rd from 1-3:30 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Jeff's memory to a charity of your choice.
You are invited to leave a personal message for the family.
My heart is broken to know that Jeff isn’t here to share laughs with, to give me some sarcastic but insightful advise, or be the life of any party he was at. Alainna, my deepest condolences for this massive loss. His was a friendship I always valued and will never be replaced.

Jeff was a wonderful man, great friend and reliable colleague. He touched the lives of many people in his 30 years of working for Benjamin Moore and we could always rely on Jeff to crack a joke and make us smile. I will miss our conversations and time spent together.

Such a lovely man, known as "Jeff the chef" in our family following a wonderful ski holiday where he literally took the kitchen over by storm. Great memories of his kindness and keen sense of humour... and interesting approach to cooking!

I will miss my bantering conversations with Jeff that were packed with his wit and sarcasm, ending with our mutual laughter about the silliness of it all.
I was deeply saddened and shocked by the sad news of Jeff's passing. Jeff was my longest and closest work sibling. Working closely together from his 1st day on. Jeff was very quick witted, always making me laugh, making our jobs fun. He was passionate for the brand and more so for his customers and colleagues. I will never forget Jeffy Jeff Jeff.
Renee and I are deeply saddened by Jeff's loss. I have known Jeff for almost 50 years and he was a great friend and decent man. When he lived in Toronto he was uncle Jeff to my girls. He was always good fun with a story to tell. To know Jeff was also to know the Murray family who are the kindest people. My condolences to you Alainna and the extended family.
My time/memories with Jeff fall primarily in the Jasper Days. We worked and played in the same circles. And Jeff provided the comedic flare in both situations. Hearing the news of Jeff’s sudden passing, sent me fishing through old pictures and memories of our days at JPL. I know I’m just one of many xJPLers who likely shared similar experiences with Jeff during his time there. I suspect he’ll continue to entertain us through memories of our time shared.

I worked with Jeff in Jasper many years ago, we also met back up after 30 years or so, he was a great guy with a great sense of humour, he'll be missed but never forgotten..
