Henry Dyck

September 4, 2025

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Henry (Hank) Dyck.

His love of animals and children touched the hearts of all that knew him. Hank passed away September 4, 2025 after a courageous battle with several cancers at the age of 89. He was predeceased by his parents Frank and Susana Dyck as well as his brother Frank and sister Susan. He is survived by wife of 65 years Phyllis, his children Mike, Jodie (Phil), and Wendy (Gord) and his grandchildren Steve, Kelsey and Trevor.

Hank was born in Codette, Saskatchewan and moved to BC with his family in 1948.  He met Phyllis in 1958 and they married in 1959.  Hank spent most of his working life as an icemaker in various skating rinks in North Vancouver, Burnaby, and Surrey.

Hank enjoyed golfing, fishing, reading and completing crosswords puzzles. He enjoyed  cheering on his grandsons playing sports, as well as following the Canucks, Whitecaps and BC Lions.

Despite his challenges that came while battling cancer, he never complained. His strength and determination in the face of adversity was inspirational. Rest in peace Hank.  You are forever in our hearts.

If you can, please consider giving to the BC Cancer Foundation.

You are invited to leave a personal message for the family.

My deepest condolences on Hank's (Hack's) passing.  My thoughts are with everyone who knew him but especially those family members who he was closest to, and whom I know cared deeply for him and help him through the many health challenges he had lately.  I know he was loved and will be missed by many.
