Gloria Jean Gillies (Glo)

February 19, 1944 - October 9th, 2024

With heavy hearts, we share the passing of Gloria Jean Gillies, who left us peacefully in the hospital on October 9, 2024, at the age of 80.  Born on February 19, 1944, in Winnipeg, Manitoba to Carl and Caroline Dahlberg (Churko), Gloria was the middle of three siblings, predeceased by Eric and Allan Dahlberg.  Gloria enjoyed a busy childhood while meeting lifelong friends and attending Gordon Bell High School before moving west in 1969 to Vancouver, British Columbia.  It was there she started her career and met her late husband, Ken, with whom she built a vibrant and fulfilling life.

Gloria (Grannie) is survived by her son Chris, daughter-in-law Lauren, and her four grandchildren: Graysen, Zoey, Parker, and Kade who were the light of her life.

Gloria’s warmth, laughter, and zest for life will be deeply missed. She loved traveling and seeing new places, spending time with friends, hosting parties and celebration’s, sharing stories over card games, and finding peace in her coloring books in her later years.  Gloria’s love for the simple joys of life touched everyone who knew her, she will be deeply missed and her memory will live on in the hearts of all who were touched by her presence.

Gloria’s ashes will be laid to rest alongside her late husband Ken, her mother, and her cherished dog Sandy, reunited in peace forever.

A celebration of her beautiful life will be held at Beecher Place (12160 Beecher St.) in South Surrey from 2-5pm on Friday, November 8th.

Well, quite the little lady. Gloria had a so much energy , warmth and humor packed into that very small package.

Her greatest gift was Chris. Gloria could not have been happier to be able to experience Chris’s successes in life and business.

Gloria was so happy to have been part of Chris and Laurens  lives over the last 13 years. Gloria was very proud to be able to see her grand child go from 1 to 4 grand children. For Gloria to be part of Chris and Lauren’s wedding and celebration this year is reflected in the attached picture.

Gloria had many challenges over the last few years, she never complained and just got on with it, incredible.

Cindy and I were very lucky to have Gloria as part of our lives over the last 13 years.

A very remarkable woman.

Will be missed by all.

God Bless

~ Terry and Cindy

Gloria was a special one-of-a-kind person with such an engaging personality. She loved to laugh and laughed often. It was infectious and makes me smile as I write this. I will miss you my sweet friend.
