In loving Memory
Gerard Cox
May 29, 1952 - January 18 2026
It is with heavy hearts to announce the sudden passing of our loved one, Gerard, Papa G. on January 18th 2026.
Born in Newfoundland and growing up in Cape Breton he found the passion for music, and carpentry. These two passions kept him busy and living the life he wanted to live. Everything he touched was done with perfection, every note he played and every bang of the hammer all came from his heart.
He passed on his love for music to his grandkids, teaching them guitar and always playing for them. He struggled with many health issues in the last 10 years and put his carpentry skills into to building guitars until he was unable to focus. He was a fighter to the end and now rests in peace leaving music in our hearts and memories never to be forgotten.
He leaves behind his loving wife, Kim, children Candace, Nick, Holly, and Jennifer. 6 Grandkids Bryce, Seth, Hunter, Jazz, Jeremy and Addy and 8 siblings spread from coast to coast
There will be a personal celebration of life at a later date to be scheduled that will be full of music he loved and people that truly cared and loved him.
You are invited to leave a personal message for the family.

I am so very sad to hear of Gerard's passing. I grew up on View St in North Sydney. Gerard was often on View St visiting his good friend, Neil Chambers.
The boys had a band and would practice in Neil's back yard.
I can remember Gerard, coming home from working in Alberta and talking the stage at The Seaview Golf Club in North Sydney. He was all by himself and did a few country songs. He was just great. I loaned my guitar to Willie Reynders and Willie, Fred Lavery and Benson McCartney joined Gerard on stage for a few tunes..
I haven't seen Gerard for years, but he was one of those friends, that, upon hearing of his passing,,, He is surely missed....

He will be missed deeply, he had so many special gifts that he shared with many people including myself. I feel so blessed to have had a bonus dad like him in my life! He was amazing just simply talented and amazing! There are no words for this loss and The Emptiness in my heart however I will be listening to the music he loved and reminiscing with pictures and hoping that these memories Never Fade Away I love you G, you can now live your best life pain-free zero discomfort nothing but the pleasures in life that you were living and breathing before all the ailments came along. Go build your beautiful masterpieces, practice your guitar licks, play in your bands and smile that beautiful smile and laughed at contagious laugh!
