David Shepherd, originally from Sherbrooke, Quebec, died in Chilliwack in his 90th year, on February 25th, 2026. He died peacefully, surrounded by his family. David was known for his strong work ethic from a young age, taking on various jobs to support his mother during difficult times. He met the love of his life on a blind date in Montreal, married and started a family. David spent many years working for Northern Electric, wiring telephone installations across rural Canada, and later accepted overseas work in Nigeria and Barbados.
David embraced many opportunities. He worked as a truck driver, carpenter, car detailer, salesman, and entrepreneur. Alongside his wife, he founded Overland Car Care LTD. He enjoyed researching family genealogy, carpentry, fly tying, and fishing. He loved sharing stories about his youth, especially about working on Canadian steam trains as a pantry chef, crossing Canada multiple times when he was only 15 years old. David would tell people, “I’ve been there, done that” and “I’ve lived a good life”. He will be deeply missed by his devoted wife, Nancy, and daughter, Debbie, son Brian, family and friends. Donations can be made to the BC Wildlife Federation.
