Clifford Anderson

June 21, 2025

It is with deep sadness  that Clifford Andrew Anderson  passed  away June 21st  2025 at approximately 1:10 PM in the Weatherby Pavillion  at the Peace Arch Hospital in White Rock B.C.

He was 97 years old.

Despite some hearing loss and arthritis, Cliff walked with a cane and lived with his wife Helga in a lovely independent retirement home.

An unfortunate accident in the hospital rendered a broken hip, and thus an untimely conclusion to a wonderful man’s life.

Cliff began his career as an airplane mechanic, became a bush pilot; where he experienced & shared many adventurous stories along the way. He went on to become Captain Clifford Anderson, and then flew with Air Canada for 33 years 10 months and 27 days.

Cliff married my mother Helga 34 years ago ( both second marriages) and they spent many happy years cross country skiing, and travelling the world together.

Also an avid golfer, tennis player, and angler; Cliff  caught many a rainbow trout in the river across from his cabin at Manning Park.

We love you Cliff, and already miss you deeply.

We will be planning a celebration of life in White Rock and will be sending details.

With love,

Helga, Denise, Gary, & Kevin

Cliff was a kind and understanding man.  I marveled at his flying experiences  and the stories that came with them.  He always had a story to tell at the pool on hot summer days.  And who would think he was still golfing into his 90's.  A life well lived.   Our thoughts are with Helga and family.

Bon voyage, Cliff. It was a pleasure to know you and a pleasure to fly with you. Hugs to Helga.

Cliff and my Dad were very close friends in their early Yukon Southen/CPAir days. Our families were friends over the years, and my family and children enjoyed our visits with Helga and Cliff from time to time. We even ran into them on the beach in Maui, which was clearly their happy place. Our love to Helga and family.

I flew with Cliff back in the mid-60's on the DC-6B

I thoroughly enjoyed working with him.  He was a real gentleman and an excellent pilot.

My Dad, Harvey, also flew with Cliff in the very early days of Cliff's career and always spoke very highly of him.

My condolences to the family.
