Barbara Anne Brown

Oct 7th 1944 - Feb 6th 2023

“Bobbie” was born in Prince Rupert to William and Babs Wrathall. She enjoyed the company of her friends, loved beachcombing, crafting and cooking.

She worked for several years at the CIBC in Courtenay before her adventuring spirit led her to Telegraph Creek, BC. Bobbie worked as the community postmaster from the late 90s to the 2000s. She had many Tahltan friends.

Bobbie is survived by her brother Bill, son Kris, daughter-in-law Anna, and grandchildren Nolan and Parker. The family wishes to thank Bobbie’s devoted friend Robert, for his support over the years.

At Bobbie’s request there will be no service. Donations may be made to the Canadian Heart and Stroke Foundation.

You are invited to leave a personal message for the family.

My condolences on the passing of Bobbie.

As a child I remember thinking Bobbie was so beautiful and vivacious.  The last time I saw Bobbie was in Prince Rupert at my parents home.  It was a lovely afternoon full of reminiscing and laughter.  She was one of the best letter writers and always made a point of staying in touch with my parents.

Sending you my love and hugs.

Cousin Terry

Bobbie and I met in grade 4 in Prince Rupert and remained friends till her passing.  I remember all the fun times we had at my Grandmother's cafe in Rupert.  Through the years we stayed in touch through cards at Christmas and a few visits in former years.  I still remember when she phoned me about our good friend Wendy passing.  I regret not seeing her one last time but she sent me a lovely poem with my card this year which I will cherish.  Rest in peace Bobbie.

Your dear friend Pat Craig(Parfeniuk)

We were saddened to hear of Bonnie’s passing.

Knowing her in Telegraph Creek, we had many visits with her and her good friend, Wenda Day. Lots of laughs and cooking!

Many years ago I was employed one year up in Telegraph Creek.  I had spent my entire nursing career in rural out posts across this great country of ours.  Bobbie Brown was the postmaster there and the community is very small. I was a part of a two nurse health care team way up in the Stikine Valley where the community of Telegraph Creek and Bobbie thrived.  Over time we came to become friends and in the ensuing years it came to pass that we exchanged Christmas cards with wonderful epic letters typed to accompany the card.  As an old tradition Christmas Cards Sender Bobbie Brown was the top of my list because I lived in such remote parts of the country that it could take weeks to get to Bobbie’s home in BC.  We updated one another on what was happening in our families.  This became as much a part of my Christmas Tradition as Christmas Tree, Santa and Christmas pudding are.. As I type this note in remembrance I am looking at the wonderful card and note which Bobbie sent to me for the Christmas 2022 to my home in Belleville Ontario.  I lost a friend when Bobbie died.  Her family lost a dear and very special mother.  Thank you Bobbie Brown. I will continue to keep you in my Christmas tradition.  Thank you so much to Kris Wrathall for your kindness and generosity to inform me of this sad news.  God Bless you all as we have all been blessed by Bobbie Brown.

Bobby and I have been friends since we were both in our 20s and over the years never lost touch with each other.  She was a dear, generous and great person.  We had many trips together and we had a lot of fun.  She loved doing crafts and I waited every Christmas for her parcel as it was always so full of stuff she made and I still have a lot of her dish cloths and will cherish them.  I was shocked when Robert called and let me know she had passed.
She will be remembered with love.  Say hi to your Mom Bobbi and rest in a better place.

Love Anne

My condolences to her son Kris and her grandchildren.
